industry felt that the most common area where it's
staff fell down was with their level of commercial
awareness.

inventory management and pricing are all integral to the
success of any retail company. It is within these departments
that an understanding of the implications of your business

The Cash Flow Challenge
business simulation is a fun and effective way to use the
knowledge and skills acquired during the finance for retail
programme in 'real-life' scenarios. This programme gives
participants an excellent view of how each business function
can contribute to cash generation.
Cash Flow Challenge is an interactive business
simulation in which decisions are judged in terms of their
style and effectiveness. Players take the role of Financial
Director for their own company. The goal: to raise £1
million for the organisation in a month.
Each player is given a series of options
to choose from in response to the various obstacles that
crop up along the way. Like any real Financial Director,
players have a team of people around them, offering advice,
opinions and criticisms
The game gives students first-hand experience
of the influences that act on financial decision makers
and demonstrates the common budgetary interplay between
different business sectors including sales, stock and credit
control.
Once a month is up, a detailed summary
analyses their performance evaluating performance both against
cash generated and the use of sound business decisions.
